Sounds normal. However, a minor restriction in the fuel flow would only appear at speed or under heavy load. At idle, when fuel demand is much less, the fuel pump would have enough time to refill the bowl if the restriction wasn't too severe. If the bowl was only half full, then that would be a smoking gun and we would be talking about the hutch/harpoon mod...

Normally fuel flow issues don't throw a SES light until the restriction becomes severe but we have seen stranger things happen.

I also feel if it was a fuel problem it would of been noticible and not all at once. It ran great up until the light came on and then i tried to accelarate out of the 30 mph speep zone

you would think you could feel it the power loss, I could not when the mixing screens in the tank plugged up. All it takes is one bad tank of fuel to plug them up, or finish plugging them up.
I would recommend checking the fuel pressure at the filter bowl like others have recommended here.
My truck would not run faster then 30 mph when it happened to me. I replaced the fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, and fuel pump, hoping I would not have to drop the tank, in the end dropping the tank and cleaning out the mixing bowl screens is what fixed it. I threw 300 bucks worth of parts at it, and it was the one thing that was "free" that fixed it.

Guys, you are missing a key point of evidence here. The CEL came on, meaning the truck threw a code. A loss in fuel pressure will NOT throw a code. The first thing the OP needs to do is have the codes read. Until he does that we are shooting in the dark.

Update-
After work I took the truck to a shop by my work. He wont touch the truck but he said he would scan it. It read with a IDM code. I called my cousin who owns a shop and he said have him take it off "limp mode" and drive it down.

I got the truck to his shop and he buzzed the injectors and the #2 injector came back Hi/Low.

He said it could be 3 things

1) Like it was said before a bad or unhooked harness
2) Bad injector
3) Bad IDM

Given that, I'd check the UVCH first.

Yeah, check the UVCH. If it is good and plugged in, then move to the IDM. See my thread here:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...need-help.html

Maybe my experience can help. In my case it ended up being a combination of a loose UVCH and a bad IDM, but the tests that are reccomended in that thread helped me narrow it down and I saved a ton of money doing all that diagnosing on my own.

Got home from work last night. Started the truck and it wont move at all. Loading the truck on a trailer and towing it over to my cousins garage with his 6.0 tonight. I might never live that down all the 7.3 6.0 smack talk I run.

I will let you know what comes up next. Thanks again for all the help.

Well here is an update. Turns out the #2 injector is bad. Thats not what caused most of the issues though. There is a sensor that tells the computer the temp of the fluid in the truck. That was broke and telling the truck that it was -400 degrees and that caused the truck to think it needed more fuel causing the truck to not start or run smooth. Injector should be in today or tomorow. Sensor will be in today. If all goes well once they are replaced we will be back up and running.

Truck is back up and running. Number 2 injector sensor shorted out and coolant temp sensor. All in all not bad. Thanks everyone for your help.
