The first four digits are all together, but when I posted that here...FTE turns it into an emicolon. Like this:

DZ-19C547-A

Got to love forum coding

Apparently a 80w90 will work fine, though I did see this as well...

"When refilling your T18 or T19 with gear oil, choose a GL-4 rated oil instead of GL-5. The latter has a higher sulfur content that is mildly corrosive to the bronze alloy synchros of the this and many other transmissions that do not have composite synchronizes. StaLube and RedLine are brands to look for, among others.

We recommend that you select a conventional lubricant or a para-synthetic in lieu of the full synthetics.
"

In another hobby of mine, I've see the whole GL-4/GL-5 debate and how GL-5 is harsh on older gearboxes...especially NP gear grinders.

Good bit of info. Thanks!

3.5 qts (quarts) or 7 pints correct? Just wanting to make sure cause I put 7 quarts in a T18 once. Smelt hot fluid for 2 week & had a front seal leak for a long time. When I went back I realized the book said PINTS & not quarts. Atleast everything got lubed good.

Was another "cool" morning at the trailer this morning. When I got in from work at 0500 the weather guessers where reporting 30F. I think I can put away the summer clothes.

Since I drive a 6.0L powered SuperDuty, I have to look for special tools when it comes to truck maintenance (nothing is currently wrong with the truck). I've been trying to find the correct T40 socket for the injectors...rumor has it Snap-On makes one; but I'll be danged if I can find it on their web site. What I'm looking for is a 3"-4" long T40 in a 3/8" drive socket. If anyone happens know the "part number"...would ya' help a brother out?

Make it. The hell with buying Snap-Off tools. After hearing & seeing some of the crap at the shop plus stuff I have done dealing with the tool guys, Im sticking to Craftsman, A-Z & Harbor Freight. If those 3 stores dont have what I need or the parts to make it, I dont need it or I will break down & get it from some where else.

The 6.0 is 2003-2006 motor right?

The 6.0L is/was in the '03-'07 F250-F550; and I think '03-'10 E-series van chassis (not sure when they started, but they ran until '10). What Craftsman makes is only about 3" long...won't clear the injector spool valves. The hold down screw (T40) that keeps the injectors in place is about 2" below the top of the injectors...and too close to the sides of the injector barrel for a regular socket to fit. I picked up a 5/16" T40 shank (6" long) that I can turn with a socket for this last injector issue...but I want something a little more permanent. Someone must make it because ANG units here in Arkansas have a Snap-On socket they purchase...not fabricated to work on their tarmac mules. I don't use Harbor Freight "tools" for torque spec sensitive projects. Heat shrink tubing & zip ties, I have no problem using China crap...but not tools; personal conviction. I may have to cut the shank down, get another socket, drill a pin hole and hammer a roll pin in if I can't find what I'm looking for. I haven't given up, but like most of my little projects that shouldn't take much effort....this one is kicking my butt.

Check Grey Pneumatic. They have long torx bits in 1/4, 3/8 & I think 1/2 drives.

Got some thunderstorms rolling into the Fort as I hammer this out on the keyboard. A buddy of mine in the greater Tulsa metro uploaded a photo from outside his house on Facebook a couple of hours ago. They're getting quite the accumulation of hail over there.

Your not hijacking the thread...it's for all kinds of non-specific topics (G rated of course). Granted since most of us here are car/truck folks, allot of the discussions are about cars/trucks and so on. With that said, just about anything goes...even 6.0L bashing. To answer your question, I've never bought anything from them...but maybe one of these other guys have that deal with vintage iron might have. My Ranchero is one of those "projects" that I hope to get started...right after I win the $148M PowerBall

Going south for the winter? If you can get the boss & management to let me keep my job, then ya. In a heartbeat.

Its so..... doesnt surprise me since its an old company/fleet truck. I did something the other night & lost all running lights. I did find the diagram that has what I need so I can wire it back up stock plus wire in some extras. Im thinking about 250 chicken lights.

Doing a little reading on a trailer site I came across this review of the 3.5L ECOboost powered F150:

First Drive: Ford F-150 Twin-Turbo EcoBoost

So it appears that the ECOboost might be a good engine. My only question from that article....I wonder why Ford restricts which size fuel tank you can get by engine size?

Ran into a fella I sorta know that runs the diesel shop in town. Sitting in a 73-79 dually flat bed. I popped off something like "when did you get this beauty" & he rattled something back & "$1100 but Im really looking for a pickup". Just so it happens I have one in the yard I dont need. A little BSing & what not. He was headed home & I had family stuff to do.

Anyway, it has a 300I6, 4 spd, dump bed probably just as long as my '85 (~11.5 ft long). White cab & busted winch mounted at the front of the bed. He said the butt end of the bed would damn near rest on the ground. Lets all hope I can get him to trade!!

You know it's going to be a rough day when you have to use your Corvette to jump start the BMW before heading to work at 0900. For the record, neither one of these are mine...I work for a living.
