1978 heater motor
So it was real easy to remove 3 nuts and gave her a yank
lol
ok so here is the question the fan motor has a hole in the top of it and as we look at new 1's they do to what is it for or is it important
could it be for extra cooling of motor?
if so what goes on it to prevent water from getting in it is a big hole and the one we took off had 100 mph tape ( duct tape ) covering it
thanks for reading this and if you have any idea what or where to look to find out why please give me a holler
thanks jimmy dale
This is strictly a guess on my part. The aftermarket often use the same basic part to cover many applications to save money. The Econoline heaters did use a vent hole in the housing. This had a short hose attached to it. Perhaps the manufacturer uses the same basic motor housing for both the F and E versions of the blower motor.
This is the illustration from the Ford parts catalog for the Econoline heater.

we are the 3 rd owner and it belonged to a school dist as a snow plow for 20 years so cant even confirm it either way
but yes the diagram helps i will make something to keep water out and air flow open just in case there duct tape was probably a bad idea if it needed air
