Heater Blower Motor
Just curious. All of the replacement blower motors out there have a hole about this size of a quarter, which you can see the windings.This hole is towards the end opposite the shaft so it is exposed too the engine bay. With dust, dirt, water etc...... won't this shorten the life extremely??? DC and a couple other places all said there's had the hole with No explanation why. Any thoughts on what to do???

I think there is supposed to be a tube hooked to it for cooling, but not in pickups like mine at least , 77 w/o ac.. Siemens PM351X is the number of the motor I have in front of me with no hole in it. They still have them, just take it back and make them get the right one if you want too.. With most parts places it becomes a waste of time anymore it seems to insist on the right part, so I usually find one online ..

Now days, to save money parts are made to fit multiple applications.
The same motor housing that fits the dentsides also fits some applications that requires a cooling vent tube.
While a hole in the side of the motor may be annoying, you don't need to do anything. It'll work fine .
