Originally posted by hawkrod Man i goofed, somehow i missed that he had a supercab. the extended cabs are a freak, all 77 1/2-79 extended cab 4X4's use the same frame and suspension but the F150 has lighter axles. i did not mention it as they are rare enough not to be an issue
Are you saying that the Supercab F-150 4x4's are the rare ones!? I know I have seen many F-150 SC 4x2's, but haven't seen too many 4x4 SC F-150's.
of course my truck is a 77 1/2 extended cab and you can check it out in my gallery. the extended cab is a lowboy style and everything on your truck is the same as an F250 (springs mounts, steering etc..) except the rear driveshaft, the rear axle (you have a 9 inch instead of the dana 60), and the hubs and brakes on the front axle (and yes you can swap them to the bigger parts). when ford decided to offer an extended cab 4X4 they did not expect to sell many so they designed one frame and used it on F150, F250, & F350 and just modified the F150 parts to fit teh bigger frame. hawkrod
That's EXACTLY what I was asking about! I didn't know if they did anything out of the ordinary because it was a 4x4 F-150, or what. I was just curious about that, because a lot of the parts that I have been finding I have had to buy for an F-2/350. I had to buy a rear leaf-spring shackle from an F-250, and a tranny mount from an F-350. It was interesting when I first got the truck! It's even funner when I went to the junk yard in Colorado and the guy running the salvage yard told me that I don't know what kind of truck that I have, because Ford NEVER EVER made a F-150 with leafsprings in the frontend, etc. I was laughing.

actually what i am saying is all extended cab 4X4's are rare! your F150 is just a freak due to the fact that it was ordered as a super cab so it has an F250 frame. the regular cab F150's do not have leaf front springs. your truck would be considered a lowboy even though it is an F150 (a regular cab F150 is neither a hiboy or a lowboy, it is just a 4X4!). hawkrod
Amazing with all the different possibalities. Yes FHB are 4" stock lift. Yours sounds like it was lifted from the purchased date. Who ever first baught it, wanted a lift kit and they placed stocked parts on it to lift it. My 75' HB has 35's and had no problem even before it was lifted higher. Personally I need bigger tires, but I get bad mpg already. Nothing wrong with fender spacing, have you check your shocks to make sure your not dipping.

In fact, the truck has been driven around for about 8 or 9 months, if not longer with no rear shocks at all! I just replaced the shocks in the rear, so I know they are not dipping! I don't know about raising it from the purchase date. If someone took the stock truck and raised it, wouldn't the pitman arms, and all that have to be replaced with different ones, because a 4" lift wouldn't fit the pitman arm, right!? And the pitman arm, all linkages, etc, are stock to that truck! Anywayz, I believe everything is stock underneath, except for the rear disc brakes just done last weekend!
