The gas has a different bell housing. The 7.3 has a unique to navstar bellhousing. I personally with out documentation would be leary of a "rebuilt" tranny. I would check the fluid at least. If I could not be 90% or better sure it was a rebuilt or good tranny I would offer what would be the core charge on it.

See below. I did tell you they are different, but I don't know how to tell you what the differences are. A gas transmission won't bolt to a diesel.
You *MIGHT* be able to tell from the torque converter, if it has the right one on it. A diesel converter has six studs, a gas converter has four.

Update
I went, I saw, I bought. Not much haggling but I didn't pay asking price either.
6 bolt bellhousing
6 bolt torque converter
I'll learn how to upload pics and let y'all take a look.
Thanks for all the help, I either just made a smart decision or dumb one, time will tell...

Most likely that's a diesel trans.

Even for the asking price, you didn't make a bad decision. its worth that in parts.
