I was just thinking that it would be nice to have a book on how to use AE to do the different tests on our 7.3's and what the results mean. What percentages mean things are bad and what the different tests will tell you. I think more people on this site are using AE and would also be interested in this. I would be willing to write everything up, I will need help and info from everyone on how to use AE for the 7.3 trucks. If people are interested in this they can pm or email me what they know about AE and i will put it all together. I don't know much about how to post it on the internet so i will need some help with that also, I can write it all up in an microsoft office document and then some how post it on the internet. So i guess anyone willing to help out and share what they know about AE please contribute and i will put it all together and share with everyone. I will start searching for past threads and if anyone knows of something like this that already exists please let me know, i have looked but never found anything and think this would be really helpful instead of posting on here everytime we need help with AE. Thanks for any help on this.

 

I got a service manuel, and i know dennis at ITP has a forum for all of this also and a little turtorial. The service manuel says what it should be but, ill have to look through it and find the certain numbers. Im down for helping.

 

John, the instruction book that came with it has all the tests and values of what it should read for our 7.3? I'll have to look again, i haven't read it since i got it but i don't remember seeing all that stuff in there. Thanks

 

I smell a new section for 7point3. Several have tried but it turns out to be such a daunting task it usually dies. Have you logged in to the other systems beside "Enhanced Powertrain" This is going to be alot of writing.

 

Alan, I have played around any time i get some extra time to see what different things do but there is so much to learn. That would be great if we could put it on 7point3.com. I am willing to stick with it and write it all up, i just need lots of help from people with more experience to gather info from so anyone feel free to pm or email me what ever you know about AE. I meant i got the Ford Service DVD that has alot of the values in there. Ill try to help the most i can.

 

Alan just informed me that the dvd has alot in there and i have the dvd so i will start looking threw that. Right now i am on itp's web site looking threw past posts on AE. If you or anyone has anything that is not in the dvd or certian tests that you have done and can elaborate on and make it easy for anyone to understand feel free to send me a pm or email me your write ups. Alan is helping alot and we are working on putting these all together and on his 7point3.com site. Thanks for any info anyone can give to make this a great AE testing manual.

 

When smoke comes out of the laptop how do you get it back in there? I had a good article going too. Oh well something else to fix.

Alan, funny. I had an electronics instructor that told us it was the smoke that made the stuff work. Getting into digital electronics, I have no doubt it's all about smoke and mirrors.

John, I'm in Williamston, MI and would be happy to provide a test truck for an afternoon. Part of my job is technical documentation and process.
I will be getting AE as soon as the funds are available.

 

So far this is going good. Alan is the man when it comes to this stuff. I searched all last night and compiled a bunch of info on past problems and how AE was used to trouble shoot them. Also alot of general info about AE and how to use it. I would like to make this user friendly for anyone and also have all the info for tests and more complicated things this software can do. There has been alot of interest and response in this so far so i think this is going to be a great tool for all of us. Keep any tips or experiences or write ups you can coming in and we'll put them all together. Also if anyone has any tests they would like to see a write up on or have been wanting to do but don't know please ask, in case we forget one that you can think of. I recently purchased the AE w/Ford package & would give a few dead presidents for the cheat sheet on how to run it with these Powerstrokes. Any written guidance on analyzing the data, especially for the powertrain, would be most welcome. I'd be glad to help in any way I can! Feel free to PM me if you need help...

 

Alan(Amiller93) has been a huge help once again and without him this wouldn't be possible. This is going to be part of his 7point3 site. We have put a few writeups together about how to do different tests with autoenginuity. This is going to be a great reference for anyone with AE to run these tests and interperate the results and be able to keep our trucks in excellent condition. So far it is Alan and me that are writing up all the articles and they are time consuming since we have to gather the information from a number of sources(ford sevice DVD, past posts from FTE and other sites), if anyone familiar with AE would like to contribute any writeups or any tips about using AE or would like to suggest any writeups you would like to see on this site please feel free to pm or email me. Hopefully this will be up and running soon and will benifit all of us.
