Oops, that's a big typo on my part.
I have the tailshaft housing gasket that does not fit, not an entire tailshaft housing.

Sorry about that confusion.

You bought (someone sold you) the wrong gasket.

Your post #21: RAB-L2 = Ford type 3.03 3 speed manual all syncro trans / Applications: 1973/74 F100 240/302 133" wheelbase.

E0BZ-7086-A (replaced C4AZ-7086-B & C3AZ-7086-A) .. Extension Housing Gasket / Obsolete

Applications: ALL 3.03 3 speeds installed in 1963/83 Passenger Cars, 1963/86 F100/350's, 1966/77 Bronco's & 1965/87 Econolines.

Did'ja happen to ask for C4AZ-7086-B? If so, there's also C4AZ-7086-A or C = Ford top loader 4 speed....not the same puppy.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Most dealers didn't stock the individual 3.03 gaskets, because they all came in this: C3AZ-7153-F .. 3.03 Gasket Set / Obsolete

There are more sources of these gasket sets than there are for the extension housing gasket, for example:

GRIFFEN FORD in Louisburg NC has 7 = 919-496-4169.

CARPENTER NOS OBSOLETE PARTS in Concord NC has 16 = 800-543-4959.

I got another head scratcher. I have been working on the transmission leak on the 73 f100 3 speed. I still have a leak, it's not too bad and I'm pretty sure wht to do to fix. however, the leak appears to be coolant, it's green colored. And I put brown gear oil in there. Keep in mind, the trans fluid does not run thru the radiator on this model.

So is engine coolant getting into transmission, and if so how ???
