I have removed many truck and car motors in my life but i'm looking at pulling a 351W out of a 92 conversion van... what is different from a van and a truck and what problems will i run into. THAnks in advanced
I'm not sure if I'll be much help but I pulled a 351 out of my 86' E250 a few years ago. The best thing about Ford vans is that they come out the front. It's a pain to remove so much stuff but it makes the job a breeze. Take off the grill and front bumper along with the radiator and top bracket. You can see the whole motor and work on it.
You will need an engine crane instead of a hoist. Because of the angle of the crane, mine was easier to pull out after putting the truck up on cement blocks. The first time I did it, I left the C6 attached. The second time I took off the C6 first. Good luck.
To me, an engine hoist hangs from an "A" frame or some other overhead
beam whereas the engine crane has a hydraulic jack which lifts an adjustable arm up and down and is also on wheels.
