'92 F-150 4x4 front 5 lug to 8 lug conversion?

I have a '92 F-150 with E40d and 8.8 with 3.55's in rear. I have always had 250 and 350 trucks and vans so I have alot of tires and wheels available. I have a 87 E-250 van that I believe has a 8.8 with 3.73 gears. I'm thinking about removeing the rearend from the van and installing in my F-150. Not sure if the van has abs ring or if width will be close to truck? Van is out in field covered in snow. Door code for axle is 24 on van. Anyway, if I do this can the front of the truck be converted to 8 lug pattern? How? Never been to impressed with the abs on truck so if van doesn't have it will this cause any problems with truck other then abs light being on? Thanks for the help.

The 87 van should have a Dana 60, not an 8.8". If it has 8 lugs, it's definitely not an 8.8". I don't know if the van axle will have a VSS on it, you're probably going to have to crawl under it and look. From what I understand, the spring perches are not in the right spot. You'd have to move the perches. If they're cast into the housing, you're out of luck, but I think they're welded.

The front can be converted, you'll need 2wd rotors, calipers, bearings, and the spindles at least. You may need the knuckles too, I don't know. Then your now-much-larger front calipers will be sized wrong for your F-150 braking system - you will at least need an adjustable proportioning valve and you may need the master cylinder off the van as well.

If you have the E4OD, you absolute need a VSS, whether or not you leave the ABS computer plugged in. The tranny needs to know how fast you're going to shift.

In other words, no VSS, you're dead in the water.

Not saying it can't be done or trying to discourage you - just making sure you're aware of the problems you will face.

Be careful as most vans have a D61 rear axle and is it a semi floating axle? It can be used but I would look for a 10.25 from a pick up truck. If the van has anti lock brakes then it has the VSS tone wheel.

As for the front you have two options. One is to install a D60 front straight axle from an F250/F350 truck, 80 and up. The 78/79 axle takes a little more work to install in the later models. The second option is to get the Chevy 8 lug parts which will bolt onto the TTB D44 axle as long as you get everything from the hubs out.

The prop valve will not have to be changed unless you convert to disk disk set up.
