4R100 Transmission Tag ?
I just bought a trans to have built up. I'm trying to decide whether its an 01 or an 02(not sure of year cut off's). It appears its after the 6month "mechanical diode" run in 01. I couldn't find tag id #'s here searching, but did find this thread. Transmission Diode in 4R100 - Diesel Forum - TheDieselStop.com Post #3. My tag ID is BD-2E08 or '02 May 08
"The mechanical diode only went in units built between Aug 2000 and March 2001 build dates, all are 2001 Model year. The build date is on the line of the ID tag that begins BD the code is First digit is the year built, last digit of year, next digit is month (A for January, B for Febuary etc) last to are day of month. If you have one your build date should read between 1Gxx through 2C21 I think. If it's a 2001 model year, the one WITHOUT the diode is a large code 7M I think. With a diode, the large code would be a letter followed by a number, without diode (in general) the code is a number followed by a letter."

Can someone advise as to where this "Tag" is located. Is it on the transmission, and if so where? Could not find any reference to "BD" on the tag on the drivers side door frame. Just a reference to the truck build date of 08/00. BTW, have 182K and the original tran is still going strong.
Thanks!

Well....this is my next project. Over the next year or so(snowmobiling will take up most of my winter), I will be rebuilding my first auto trans making it HD. With the help of Roland (Mueckster), I decided to go for it! My stocker is holding up just fine at the moment so I have no time deadline to have it done. This has to be the biggest puzzle I have ever done. To make things slightly worse, the trans was 95% disassembled when I picked it up. Only the tail housing and output shaft were left intact. I have a ATSG manual ordered and on the way. Although I never been in one before, from reading and looking at pictures, parts and their functions are making sense now!
