01 4R70W help

Hey guys I'm needing some help. I have a 2001 F-150 4.6l 4x4 with the 4R70W. Recently my trans went out. I contacted a local trans shop that told me that depending on whether my truck was a true 2001 depends on what year of transmission I could use. I have contacted numerous junk yards and transmission shops and dealerships and no can tell me how to tell the difference. The trans shop said if it was a true 01 that only a 01-04 would work and that if it is a early 01 a 2000 down will work but said he couldn't tell me which it took unless he tore into it. Is there a way to tell which one I have? Thanks in advance for your answers!!

Look at your ID decal and get the production date. also you can go to
FordEtis home page
and select the vehicle tab, enter your vin and get your build sheet for your rig.

My production date is 06/21/2000. It also says its the AODE if that helps with determining which one it is

as you wrote, this looks like a 2000 to me.
check and see if the year model is on the vin tag.
also the build sheet will show the model year.

The model year is showing 2001.

maybe take a picture of your vin decal that shows the model year and production date
show that to your trans shop the model year and production date. let them figure out what trans you need.
