While chasing down electrical problem not associated with this symptom, I removed steering column cover and noticed a single red wire with a spring type contact that fell out of igntion hole where the assembly fits in. For the life of me I cant get it in again and when I reassembled, I now have the door chime when I close door with key out of ignition....read a few posts about taping switch up but no images and if so, is the right way to go with this?
sorry nite time on my camera phone....i taped said wire up and now have no door dingy...did some more digging in the search threads...evidently it is a ground wire when ignition is turned off, it contacts the key drum assembly must have been loose and grounding all the time...
for the life of me i tried and tried but could not get that thing to stay in there short of glueing it but, i just taped it up and no more door ding....nice picture....it was dark and all i had was 2 hands and a cell phone LOL
now i have found another problem.....leaking power steering somewhere....noticed during brake pad change
