Question Engine Oil Temps

after doing some data logging... I have notice my EOT never goes below 105 (F) degrees, even after the truck has been parked for 2 days.

is this normal? do I need replace the EOT sensor? what else might cause this?

I understand what the temp readings should be.

my response was to cheezit... he recommended I "ohm out" the EOT sensor, which is good advice. my question is when I take ohm readings on the sensor, what should the resistance readings look like?

I am fairly certain the EOT sensor is bad, but I want make sure there is nothing else that might cause the inaccurate readings before I replace the sensor.

Ya I kinda caught on after I posted, good luck. If it's not close to ambient and the ect is after sitting I would just replace the sender..

drove the truck to work.. its been sitting about 5 hrs now. EOT sensor "ohms" out at 19.5 ohms with the meter on the "K" range.

I am guessing that's a little high

see heres the thing the sensor is a thermister so with out knowing what the temp is out side when the check is done noone can give you the correct awnser as to what the correct value should be.
however that information should be in section 6 of the pc/ed

Following Cheesit's tip, there is a temperature vs resistance chart buried in the service manual.

50 deg - 59,016 ohms

77 deg - 30,000 ohms

86 deg - 24,329 ohms

95 deg - 19,696 ohms

140 deg - 7,556 ohms

If you are getting a number like 19.5K (19,500 ohms), that corresponds to a termperature of 95 degrees.

I'd look at coolant temperature and intake air temperatures after sitting overnight and compare them to EOT. They should be very close to each other. The spec buried in the manual is 10 deg F.

You can use your ECT sensor for a reference. The EOT and ECT sensors should Ohm out the same when the engine is cold.

with the scan tool hooked up, outside temp was roughly 65 (F) degrees. engine coolant temp was 68 degrees and Intake air temp was 70 degrees. The Engine Oil Temp was 105 degrees
