I think you should let it warm up long enough to put your seat belt on and then drive it easy until it warms up. That's true at any temperature. All that warming up idling is just good for using more fuel. And we all enjoy buying fuel more often...
Mine warms up long enough for me to get my crap settled in and put my seatbelt on. The fastest way to get it to operating temp is to just drive the thing.
This is why you dont EVER buy an ambulance (or god forbid a fire engine) motor. They sit in very cold apparatus bays for hours, then get run very hard right away.
As for me. No warm up period. I start and go, but then again "cold" is below 70* where I am..
most of the firetrucks here get plugged in to keep them hot so there ready to go.
i just drive slow until temps is good. some times i will let it run for 10 minutes if it is cold.
When it gets cold here in winter, below 75* I let it run long enough for the seats to warm up and the heater to get going! I had to use the defrost once last year and that took a good 3 minutes! I had to wear long pants and a long sleeved t-shirt that day! It was horrible!!!!!

I usually give mine long enough for the temp guage to start moving-like others have said-while I am getting set and puting my seatbelt on-I am so glad to hear about folks wearing their belts........if it wern't for seatbelts being worn I would have lost my Wife in a wreck when a drunk driver hit us about 20 years ago.

I will always warm up for a minute during warm weather and at least 3 minutes or so during cold weather. The important thing is to drive easy for a few minutes/miles to let the fluids warm up.

I spend the winter about 200 miles south of you Jim...we had one night of zero and the next night it was 2F last winter...coldest temp there in 40 years! But overall, pretty darn mild winters. I just start the truck and drive easy until everything warms up.
