guys and gals, my buddy rolled up to my pad, complaining about a knarly noise. As soon as he pulled up on the driveway, i knew what/where the problem was. Unfortunetly, he gots more time than money right now. Whats the likelyhood that is the flexplate more then the torque converter?
He's setting up a youtube account to video the sound. Gotta hook it up with pics/videos right?
Yeah, ur right, Greg. We removed the inspection plate to take a gander, and cant see anything outta the norm. You know by chance, how long he can drive until catastrophy happens , and if so, what can happen

They usually crack around the bolt pattern so it won't be visible by looking through the inspection plate. I would think a badly cracked flexplate will destroy the transmission pump if the TC begins to wobble excessively.
Mine "popped" and sounded like a can of marbles. Turned out to be the Suncoast torque converter. 20k miles and refusal to stand behind the parts sends me to Bts or JW when this one goes.

Yup, that would be my route. But right now, few beers deep, scratching our melons ask'n the PSD gods, as to why?
Ricky Bobby, he gots bigger fish to fry. He gots a pass. side uppipe leak, and top of that, besides the oily mess he gots goin on, the #8 manifold pipe is leaking. Soot all over the place right in that area, atop the packed mud...

Boy, now is the time to tackle the up-pipe donut gaskets....since the tranny is out. Just replacing the donuts is better than nothing and can buy some time in case he wants to save up for some bellowed pipes.
btw...I rented that movie last night (Talladega Nights)...I was laughing most of the way through that one. I think I laughed the hardest when the two guys were discussing gift options for grandma's 88th birthday.
