I need to replace the A/C clutch on my 02 with a 4.6L V8. Does anyone know if this can be done without removing the whole compressor? I am trying desperately not to have to evacuate and recharge the system. This isn't covered in the repair manual I have, but I assume I am going to need a puller to get the pulley off. My concern is the lack of room between the compressor and the radiator.
I have alreaday tested all of the pressure switches and made sure there is power at the clutch itself. Initially, I could tap the clutch with the handle of a screwdriver and it would work for a few days, so I thought maybe it was just the gap. Now that doesn't even seem to work. A new clutch at the local parts store is only $100, so I figured I would go ahead and replace it. If anyone has any tips on this, I would love to hear them. Thanks!
