Needed to do this chore and couldnt really find a pic heavy how-to thread, so I'd figure I would give this a whirl.
First step is to remove the door panel of the vehicle....pretty straight forward, remove a screw here and there, with a sharp pull at various corners and you are left with something like this :
Take a look inside and locate the lock rod attached to the cylinder. Note the cylinder is held in by a retaining clip that is pulled out in the next step:
Here is the retainer from the outside of the door. I used a screw driver on the inside and outside to free it up a bit, then using some pliers for the final bit of extraction:
And here she is after a tad little tug ....
After this step, the cylinder will pretty much be free moving and you can manipulate it out a tad bit from outside the door. I was very concerned with breaking the plastic piece that secured to the rod, but no worries....after I got my part in, I noticed each lock cylinder came with a new platic piece....so feel free to twist and tug a bit...the cylinder will come free....
Here is a couple pics of the new parts. Got them from Advance Auto Parts. List price was like 44.99 or something like that, however I found an online link with discount codes that saved me 15.00 off my online order (will post at end of thread). So out the door, part was just over 30.00 after tax. If I can save money...I definaley will
Two lock cylinders and two keys....WOot Woot
Install new cylinder in door and attach the rod.
Install retainer clip
And youre done with one side....
Door lock tested and all is well. Really nice to have a way to secure truck now since I didnt get door keys with purchace (FYI...Ignition cylinder was replaced by PO so no using one key here for me )
Door locks are good to go and tight...need to be worked a bit to loosen up...might shoot some Blaster or multi-lub spray in there for time being.
Good thread, don't use Blaster, WD40 or any of those kind of oils. The cilinder is new and use will round up the sharp edges on the keys and make everything work fine. If you feel the need to lube it, use some engine oil with a little graphite dust, it will work great and won't fade away.

I hit it up with some 3 in 1 oil.......works like a charm ...thanks!
I need to do this too...PO lost all the keys when I bought it I had the redo the ignition and all I lack are the door locks.
Great writeup!
Thanks for the props.......I gotta buddy that said they could all be rekeyed with a single key agian, but was like to heck with it...I am satisfied knowing I did somthing myself and did nt have to pay out the wazoo for it. Good luck with project and I suggest going to Advance and using that coupon...super cheap
Why didn't you just get them rekeyed at a locksmith instead of buying new aftermarket?
That was an option starting at like 29.99 if he could do it from outside the truck, or charging me 129.99 to pull them and rekey. Long story short, figure I would try myself and use that as a back up plan. Also, when the locks came out, I inspected them and they were all kinda jacked up....one was frozen solid (stuck) and the other looks like someone took a coar hanger to it...lol
You don't have to take the whole door apart to do this. Just pull out the clip that holds the lock in the door and then carefully pull the cylinder out of the door. Grab onto the linkage with a needle nose or small locking pliers so it doesn't fall down inside the door. Then you can disconnect the old lock from the linkage and put the new one on. Then just put the new lock into the door and put the clip in.
Yeah I tried this on the drivers side after opening up and completing the passnagers side (wanted to see all that was in there first). I personally could not complete the task in that fashion. Hands to big and not good working with little parts.....
