Question 164 tooth flexplate vs flywheel offset?

I'm running a C6 with a 164 tooth flexplate. I was running a 164 tooth flywheel with my 4 speed that I had in. The AT starter I had perty much just went out and I still have my MT starter. So im wondering if I can use my MT starter on my C6? Ive heard that that is not possable yet when I ask people why its not possable they dont know why. Ive been reading up on flywheels and flexplates and such and the word "offset" keeps popping up.
Does anybody know why its not possable to use a starter for a manual trans on a auto trans or vicea-verca?

It has to do with how far the starter pokes into the bell. The depth has to match the flywheel/flex plate so the starter will engage the ring gear. Measure what you have, it might work.
