Regular gauge will bounce like mad with the OBS fuel pump.
Just use a tire pressure gauge like mentioned, should get you in the ballpark anyway.
However, the mechanical pump usually has a hard time down low in the rpm (like idle) to keep good fuel flowing, yet will flow well in higher rpm's since it's rpm driven.
There are excpetions, however, and it's still good to know what fuel pressure is.
Ebps is hooked up but the tube is plugged. Tried to clean it and it made a hole in so it's crimped off down by the manifold. We do have a new tube to try. I guess we should change it.
I'd swap in the new tube honestly.
There has been some debates on what it does.
I've read many a posts on FTE here where people cleaned the tube and their problems went away, or swapped it cause it had a crack and it ran better.
Thats just a WAG anyways.
I'd start with the fuel and CPS like others suggested.
Well I hate unfinished threads so let me go ahead and say this one is finished! He found the problem. Turns out it was a faulty map sensor. He got one out of a wrecked truck for free and thought he'd give it a shot. Show nuff, this thing will run! Smoke cleared up, egt's went down, & even out ran a friends sd with 100 hp tune from bts. The owner is super stroked about it. And thanks you guys!
A Dog? Hmmm... might have to try that on this '97. I found a really bad boost leak on the exhaust side (up pipe literally fell outta the collector), but it could be other things. Made no more than 10lbs of boost so I'm thinking the up pipe was the issue. Either way, it couldn't carry itself up a hill at the speed limit. We'll see I guess...
