man...these headlights are really poor....we've had a ton of flooding here and I was out surveying some of the roads and even with the highs on I can't see more than 50'....really disappointing for me.
Yup ..... Options;
- put in better bulbs
- add a bright box
- upgrade to HID's
- wait for the projector lenses to come out
- add in an 18" Vision X LED Light bar
After driving a 2002 F450 for 8 years, the headlights on this 2011 are a huge improvement IMHO. Are they adjusted correctly?

I agree with Biggziff. I went through the alignment procedure a couple of times with the stock bulbs. Then tried Recon's Xenon halogens and finally ended up with HIDs. The HIDs are producing the amount of light I want, just not where I want it. The answer will be HIDs in projectors (when they are available).
I think the problem with the headlamps is the size of the reflectors and how the faceted surfaces work inside. The wattage of the stock bulbs just don't seem strong enough to take advantage of the reflective surfaces. The HIDs on the other hand have too much errant light that the stock housing wasn't designed to handle.

I really like the Vision X light bars. Although I am hesitant of putting one my rig for fear that someone will just steal it. They are so expensive I would think they would be too much temptation to just sit exposed on a vehicle.
Check out black flame customs. They make shrouds they install into your factory lights to make them projectors and HIDS - and can do a number of other custom stuff. I personally like them better then some of the aftermarket because they keep the single bulb look and looks like something you would see come from the factory. And overall seems like the aftermarket stuff doesn't always age as gracefully as OEM.

If their pricing wasn't an obvious gouging attempt I'd consider them, but at over $800 there is no way I'll do business with them.
$600 for a $75 LED array is also a non-starter. I can build an array with 3 watt emitters myself for cheap. LEDs are currently riding the huge profit margin train. Remember when HID kits first came out? $600 was an average price...now the same kits with better electronics are $50. LEDs will follow this within 18 months.
I can buy reflectors for around $150 and retro fit them in the existing housings myself.
For now, I've ordered a set of bi-Xeon HIDs for $55 shipped and will use them until I can either get a second set of housings to modify or someone offers a reasonable HID solution.
Okay, good to know. The part number you list does not show up on their site yet
...yet.
Driving to the airport the other night I was annoyed at how low it seems the headlights are aimed. It would seem reasonable, of course except for cost to Ford, that they would put a mechanism in the headlights to allow adjustments based upon load. If the back was weighted down a bit, you should be able to adjust the light cut-off down. My Subaru has that feature.
