Remember that a Technical Service Bulletin is not a recall. They are put out to the dealers to address what can be common problems for them to see in order to reduce the risk of a repeat failure.
If there's nothing wrong with your truck you don't need any of them!
I just got back from the dealership and had my truck flashed with the latest TSB. It was #11-8-24 (6.7L-Calibration Update-Various Issues-Built on or before 7/25/2011). It is two pages of calibrations to fix numerous problems/codes/etc. I took mine in because I had a harsh shift from 4 to 5th gear. The service tech, loaded this TSB which fixed my shift problem and many others I didn't even see yet! The whole process took less than an hour. I stood by the service tech and watched the entire procedure. His computer checked my truck for any updates needed and loaded all updates. He also said his computer is hooked up to the main Ford system wirelessly and would have the latest TSB updates without having to always search for them. I would take your truck in for a free update if I were you.
Thanks everyone for the updates. I am all set with 11-8-24 as the dealer installed it for me this week while I have been on vacation. I bought my previous ford 2005 here and would recommend them. Rancho Santa margarita ford in California if anyone is interested. Also Peter d. The fleet manager is very knowledgable on the 6.7 and easy to work with.
Here is the bulleting straight from the dealership.
Sarge, I appreciate it. I had thought my dealer had already applied this PCM update, but I just called (truck is currently in the shop...see "stranded"), they checked and said it had not. I've still had the very hard 4-5 shift, so I'm hoping this clears it up.
Anyway, thanks. This post just prompted me to call and ask while it was already in the shop.
