Any new bulb will be brighter than an old bulb. Bulbs dim over time.
Of all the $$$ bulbs, the Silverstar Ultras are the only ones to actually put out more lumens, but I also found them to be short lived.
Now I just buy name brand bulbs.
All the ricer style "blue" bulbs are, in a nutshell, tripe.
If you can handle some fabrication, I'm loving my auxiliary headlights. Hella HL79566 headlights mounted where stock fogs went. Looks like fogs, but are actually low/high beam units. 4 beams always better than 2....
