blue spring
where might I find a write up/tech article about how to install the blue spring on the fuel pressure regulator?
I browsed the tech folder and did a quick search, found nothing.

Understand wanting some step-by-step instructions. I'm the same way. But this is so easy even a cave man can do it!

well, since I had no idea where the spring was located (until now) the above link was very helpful.
Now that I know where it is, I would say it should take an hour or less to install.

Was just trying to encourage you. You're on target with the time. Also be aware that the kit comes with pieces for all year models. The 2003-2004 models have a few more pieces in the kit that you won't use. It'll be pretty obvious what parts you need to use and which one's aren't used when you get your regulator cover off.

Hold your hand on the housing when the last bolt comes out....the spring will help you lose all the parts!

If I remember I used a 7/8" wrench to hold the connector shown in the 6th photo, and a 13/16" to disconnect the fuel line nut.
It took a bit to move it. Initially had me scared I'd break something but just gave it more effort and it broke loose.
