2004 Escape 4x4...My mom gave this SUV as a gift...I live in Florida very hot and humid..want i first get going,it blow very nice cold air,so i stop to shop for about 30 min's and start back home..and it blow warm air..so i pull my windows down for a whille 15 min's or so,and it seen to try to get cool but it doesn't...why? help!!!! Thank you for any help!!
When the air transitions from cold to warmer, do you notice any additional symptoms such as reduced airflow or that the air coming out of the vents is very humid?
Do you notice an extra large amount of water dripping from the condensate drain when parked after a 30 minute drive or if parked immediately after the outlet air goes warm?
Have you looked under the hood to see if either you have a big chunk of ice or frost at the evaporator connections at the firewall when it fails?
Have you looked under the hood at the compressor clutch to see if it's still engaged when it fails or if it has stopped engaging?
I see two possibilities as being the more likely:
1) Compressor clutch is disengaging, possibly due to excessive gap or wear.

Your observations will help isolate the cause.
