Transmission help

I tried to bolt up my transmission to my engine last night and ran into a problem. This is the transmission for this engine and it is out of the truck. I got it together, but when tightening the bolts I heard a crack and noticed that I have about an 1/8" gap and it won't go anymore. I put in a new flexplate for this combo, could it be too thick? I put the plate on, then the flexplate - could only go on one way - I think, then lined it up and got it too where it is now.

Manual tranny? If so the clutch was probably not in line. They make stool for this.

If auto torque converter may not have been fully engaged into the pump.

If automatic trans, is the pilot the right size on the converter? I know people that have ran into that problem before because they bought the wrong converter.

It is an automatic transmission and all pieces are from this combo. The only piece new is the flexplate.

Make sure the torque converter is fully seated in place. To check..... slowly spin the TC while pushing in.
