If it does it when the engine is cold, then it may be your idle air control valve (IAC) valve.

Check the transmission fluid level. Low fluid can cause the torque converter clutch to drift on and cause a stall. It can also be a loose/missing internal filter, worn seals, or a worn pump in the trans. It could also be totally engine related, but I'll be not.

Mark,
So would those conditions cause TC lockup? I know zero about autos, but it sounds like the OP is experiencing TC lockup?

Yes, that's what I said. Any of those things can cause the torque converter clutch to partially apply, locking the torque converter. That causes the engine to stall.

Same problem

Hi, I have a 2000 Ex with the V10 at 285k. Even with regular fluid and filter changes it just started having this same problem. I am wondering if anybody has fixed this issue with their vehicles. Thanks
