There's the Problem

So Many of you are probably aware that I have a fubarred C6. It instantly over heats, it is impossible to keep cool and the tranny seems to have no line pressure. But alas! I think I may found the reason why and I will provide a picture below.

Poor Stator Support. I have put dozens of transmissions in, so I know I did not install the torque converter so that only begs this question: WHY WOULD THAT BREAK?

As a side note, I think it speaks highly of the c6 that it did operate (even if it was poorly) like this..

I had a reman torque converter fail once and do that. It ran for about ten minutes and then a bang, chirped the tires than nothing.

Dan, that is the shaft that comes out of the torque converter hub and goes into the trans.

To edit my first post without actually editing it I meant to say, I did not improperly install the tq conv. But y'all seemed to figure that out

Thats a pretty cool break.

I know you said it instantly overheated and etc but are you also implying the truck was able to move under its own power like this? -if so, kick ***. I wouldnt expect that to happen again. I guess the jagged edges caught every now and then?

Going back with a stock replacement or something a little stronger?

I reckon it has been broken for months I reckon. I Drove it around wondering why it was slipping so bad and overheating. So I figured I was time to find another tranny. I pulled the motor and tranny out for a cam change, and when I pulled the tq conv out there was no stator support just an input shaft! It was actually a very clean break so I guess thats why it somewhat worked, the flywheel held the tq conv centered. Under closer inspection the stator support had lots of small cracks so I imagine that has been the trannies achilles hill for the last two rebuilds.

I actually don't know of any way stronger to set up the truck other than a manual tranny, but i have decided to build a completely unrelated transmission and cross my fingers.

For a temperature reference *normal operating temp was around 240. When I called on it it would rocket up to 300+.
