HELP: c6 questions about converting

After a long life of being a straight-shift-only person, due to my wife's physical problem, I'm having to go automatic. I'm trying to learn all I can about the c6 I'm putting into my '87 F250 (300 engine). I have two questions right now that I would appreciate some help with. (1) Does the c6 torque converter lock up at higher speeds the way a c5 does that I now have in a car? (2) The rebuilding manual that I have says nothing about filling the torque converter after draining it and the tranmission. It just says to put fluid in the tranmission. Should I fill the converter separately by pouring fluid into the input shaft hole before I install the converter and tranmission into the truck?

I would appreciate any info. some of you experienced people can give it. Thanks.

The C6 does not have a lockup torque converter.

It's not necessary. You could pour a quart in there if it makes you feel better, but it isn't needed. If you pour much more in you'll have a mess when you try to put the converter on the input shaft.

Make sure you spin the converter enough times to fully seat it. It's been a while for me with a C6, but I think it's three splines that need to line up, so the converter should drop down three times. The face of the converter must be behind the front edge of the bellhousing or it's not going to work. I like to stand the trans on end with the bellhousing up to install a converter.
