I recently had to remove the hood to do some body work on my truck. I am unable to get the rear of the hood (where the hood meets the cab underneath the windshield wipers) down far enough so it is flush with the cab. I am sure the hinges are adjusted down as far as they can go on the inner fender. The front to back adjustment was easy.
My questions are:
1. Am I overlooking some other adjustment or is there some trick to get this right?
2. Since the hood was off for about two weeks with the spings extended in the up position during this time do they need time to "settle" back down so the top of the hood will flush up with the cab?
I have never had this problem before with other vehicles. Thanks in adavance for everone's help.
There was just a post about this about a week ago. I think the title was similar to yours.
The solution there was (something to the effect of) to raise the brackets instead of lowering them. There's a point where the hinge gets to that causes the springs to pull down instead of up. With them lowered, it never gets to that point.
Check out the other post for details as I don't remember exactly what it says.
You need to rotate the hinges on the inner fenders so the hood opens farther. The last bit of hinge movement as the hood closes pulls the back of the hood down. Sounds weird but it works.
Hope this helps.
