got my 67 tbird 390 together today and started disassembling the 360
i noticed the 390 harmonic balancer is thin like 3/8 or 7/16 with built in pulley groove. the 360 has a good 1" wide balancer with seperate pulley .
which do i use ? will the 360 work or will the balancer be wrong ?
352/360/390/410/428: There are two different harmonic balancers:
360 introduced in 1968, used in F100/350's only / 410: 1966/67 Mercury Parklane only.
Outer pulleys for accessories (P/S, A/C, T/E, Dual Belt Alternators) bolt to the balancers, could have one, two, three or four sheaves (pulley grooves).
The A/T flexplate (C5AZ-6375-D) is the same: 1965/67 352/390, 1968/76 360/390 for Passenger Cars & F100/350's with FX & MX C-O-M & C6.
The 1965/76 352/360/390 M/T flywheels have the same applications as the flexplate.
There are two, because 352/360's (C5AZ-6375-K) have an 11" clutch on a 12 3/8" bolt circle. 390's (C5AZ-6375-L) have an 11 1/2" clutch on a 12 7/8" bolt circle.
It looks like you're planning on running dual breathers instead of a PCV system. I would suggest to change that passenger breather to a pcv and run to the carb. If not you'll be changing that thing left and right because it'll clog up fairly fast when used that way. JMO
THANKS and thanks for the tip on the breather , got them on ebay for $10.00 for the set
i like the way it look but if need be i'll switch to pcv system
