Door windows

Okay a friend came out today with his dad and they got the window regulators out of the doors. We have not gotten the door latches out yet. In the process one of the vent window frames were broken. My question is will the window regulators work if I leave the vents out and just put bigger windows?

They make a kit to convert to one piece glass wich is available most catalogs, but if you take out the vent frames and devider there wont be a track for the glass to run in. I know Classic Haulers carry the kit(1877 252-1956)

What year of truck do you have?

Why not just buy a new window frame?

Like jim said they make a kit. You can use your regulators but ya have to get the kit or do away with the regulators and put power windows in it. If ya put solid glass like i did you also have to cut the tabs out that the devider mounts too. Its in the instuctions that comes with the kits. NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE ANY PAINTING IS DONE. GOOD LUCK !!!!! Its easyer and cost less to put big glass in then to rebuild the vent windows.Just depends on what look you want . Good vent window are getting hard to come across. ILYA may have some !!!!

Thanks for the plug, Dale. Yes, I have a pair that I'll be pulling from a 51 Deluxe cab doors. The chrome is peeling and rusty, but the frames look solid. They'll fit 48-52 trucks. PM or email if interested.

The part shown below? It rivets to the frame, can be re-riveted if not rusted too bad (or welded). Forget JB Weld.

How soon do you need one? This winter I hope to be putting my new set in my '49 f1... My passenger is all there, let me take a look at it and see if it's good or not... is the rest of your frame still good? My drivers side is broken at the bottom pivot point... and the top pivot was broken off so I was missing the window frame... I silicone a piece of Plexiglas in to the opening... If you use silicone to hold the frame in place temporarily until you get a replacement it will do less damage when you try to change it out...

I the frame that holds the glass on mine is rusted on the inside of the cab... You may be able to find just the pivot point and replace it...
