I wouldn't drive that truck anywhere like that. Do you have a crescent or pair of channel locks? Other than that might want to take a different ride to go get a socket. Or just get it towed to ford. Call the dealer when they open Tuesday talk to the service manager and see what he says. Maybe thy will cover the tow since it's only been 5k since the repair. How long ago was this.
If they fix it under warrantee, and don't give you a bunch of crap, make nice with the service writer (12 packs?) so he can coerce the tech into doing a quality flush job before it goes back together.
service wrighter is a gurl..named amy..been there for years....weve been dealing with this dealer for 15 years now. im just mad i got it back aug 1st and now it broke again. Hmmmm i wonder if they really did change the oil cooler like they said?
Stand pipe looks fine. So you shouldn't have to worry about that, BUT looks like you have been running a non-oem type "will fit" oil filter. The ones that take that little plastic piece in the middle are known to cause problems with these trucks. Just an FYI on that. When it is fixed you might want to take that piece back out of the middle and install a factory filter. Might also want to install a new OEM oil cap as well, because some of those kits come with a different cap, and have seen lots of post with them causing problems as of late.
Thanks. Ill keep you all updated tuesday when they look at it. They as in the ford dealer put that filter in it when the replaced everything last time.
12/12= 12 month or 12k mile warranty. Scan gauge is a great tool for watching different temps and stuff plus good for diagnosing problems. What Tyler was saying is if you would have had the scangauge II you could have caught the oil temps going up and fixed it before it got that bad.
so my egr cooler and valve and oil coller was fixed under an ext warranty. that has since expired. but since it was fixed with oem parts and at ford dealer your saying that i should have a 12/12 warranty on those items?
not sure if gauge would have caught it. it was running fine and just dumped out of no where.
If you watch your coolant temp vs oil temp you would have caught it. There should never be more than a 15 degree difference between the two (at full operating temps highway speeds on flat ground) oil temp being the higher of the two. What happens is the oil cooler gets clogged on the coolant size causing the oil temp to be too hot (witch is why I asked about the stand pipe melting) Resulting in a blown oil cooler. Watching the temp spread you can get it fixed before it blows.
Yes any repair done by ford carries a 12/12 warranty for parts and labor.
thanks u have been a big help. question for you. 2 days ago we smelt diesel fuel real bad in the truck..then it stopped. then this today. any relation?
