should the engine be warm before an oil change??

About to change my oil... Just has been sitting overnight and the engine is cold. Should I drive it around first or is a cold change alright?

If you're using 15w40 and on cold oil, it will take forever to drain. I'd warm it up too.

The engine should be warm. The oil flows faster and helps get keep everything in suspension.

Yes, it should be warm. But if its hot, you will get oil on your hand and regret it. Its not painful, but very uncomfortable. Ask me how I know.

Been there too many times, it's times like that that push me toward a Fumoto.

Hot is better. I have a pair of pvc coated cloth gloves that are excellent for hot oil changes. You can do it when the things up to temp and not burn yourself.
