When you check youtr oil level in the 6.0, do you warm the engine up first or will you get an accurate reading cold? The reason I ask is because I asked the dealor to only put 13.5 qts in my truck at oil change and it reads at the very top of my hash marks when I checked it cold..
If the level indicates at the top of the hash marks at any time, I doubt the grease junky only put 13.5 quarts in. -Or, they didn't let it drip empty when they drained it. Top hash mark should be 14.5 quarts.
Warm or cold. The oil filter, lifter valley, valve train, oil galleys and pump don't hold but a few ounces at most. Those are points that can't be drained any way.
I drained my oil the other evening. Cold engine. The oil had a few hours to drip to the pan. And I let it drip drain for quite a while. (Fumoto valve right into four different milk jugs for easy recycling.) jI poured 14.5 quarts of new Delo400 in. New filter. After running the engine, dip stick showed just shy of the top mark.

The key to getting an accurate reading when checking the oil is to be certain the engine has been off for at least 20 minutes... According to the 06 Owner's Manual
engine oil should be checked cold or like was said after 20 min of shutdown. the transmission is the one that should be running and warm to get accurate reading
Believe none of what you hear/read and only half of what you see... Many of us say no more than 13 to 13 1/2 quarts like you asked to have put in. Mine would be over filled if I ran 14 1/2 without a doubt. I consider the top line of the hash mark as over filled. Others say they have to put at least that and yet others say 15+ ha! Good luck to them and their seals... Checking your oil isn't brain surgery and unless someone at International thinks they're funny and are putting different length dip sticks in, somethin' skwuwy goin' on here...

I consider the dipstick and the tube it goes in to be a rather crude measuring device, I certainly would not freak out about the oil being at the full line.
We put the recommended refill of 15 quarts in our 2004 6.0 every 7,500 miles and have not had any problems in 70,000 miles.
