Thanks ND....as always, I appreciate your time and information.
fwiw....I have a used factory stock sport rear bumper that I plan on installing....bought it from a FTE member. I just can't get the dern thing mounted because I don't have the brackets. The ranch bumper thing that must've been dealer-installed on my truck is a one-piece thing with brackets built onto it. If anyone wants something like this, let me know.

No such thing as a sport bumper, never seen or heard of any such thing.
If you are referring to the contoured rear bumpers, make sure to use that name when asking for brackets, cuz no one will know what a sport bumper is.
Bumpers with welded on brackets are aftermarket.
Ford didn't offer step bumpers until 1967. And, the flimsy brackets that bolt on to them (1967 to today!) aren't worth 2 cents...one slight tap, the bumper sags like an old sway backed nag.
I've heard them referred to as such over the years but since you da man and all, I will refrain from doing so in the future.
The set that I'm after looks like the photo below. And yes....they are for the CONTOURED bumper....you know, the pretty one that looks like the front bumper.
FWIW....the bumper currently on my truck looks like it was probably originally designed for an older model truck with more rounded rear fenders. I mean, it fits and all, but not perfectly. My guess is that the Ford dealer simply kept buying these nasty old locally built bumpers in spite of the fact that they didn't quite match the contours of the truck.
I'm about to try adapting a contour bumper from an 80 bronco to my 64 F100. So far Ive learned the brackets I salvaged with it need exstending and I need to find a professionalish way to account for the skinnier frame width of my truck. The bumper's in great shape so Im determined to make this work for the price. Ill let you all know what I come up with!
