It shows mounting bracket kit number40-3705. Has anyone used this combination of parts & how well does it work. I tried asking customer service at Lmc & they kept tryin to sell me the bolt kit. This is a surprise grad gift for my boy & running out of time. Please help... Stuck in Cali.... Thank you..
I have a 70 f100 styleside with anaftermarket (probably dealer installed), black diamond plated rear step bumper.

All rear bumpers were optional.
Dealer installed aftermarket step bumpers usually have the brackets welded to the bumper. Here in CA, the Fey Bumper Co. was the largest supplier of these bumpers to dealers.
Genuine Ford step bumpers were introduced in 1968, were available either painted grey or chromed. These bumpers have individual bolt on brackets.
But the brackets that were used on genuine Ford step bumpers are different than the brackets used on the Styleside chrome or painted contour rear bumpers.
If this is the type you purchased, there are 4 brackets: Right inner, right outer, left inner, left outer.
Same Styleside contoured bumpers and brackets: 1964/66 F100/250 2WD; 1966 F100 4WD; 1967/72 F100/250 2WD/4WD & F350.
Thank you for your timely response and info. Here is a pic of what i ordered & the brackets to the right that i believe i need. I just dont understand how it will line up.. the middle bumper is what i have. 1970 f100 style side
I bought my mounting brackets, bolts, license plate lights and painted contour rear bumper through NPD.
When you put the brackets and bumper on, the brackets and bumper will be drooping down if you just tighten the bolts as the bumper sits.
After I got the brackets and bumper on with the bolts loosely attached to the frame, I placed a shop rag on the pad of my floor jack, put the jack under the middle of the bumper and slowly raised the bumper/brackets until the top of the bumper was about 3/16" below the reflectors on each side and then tightened the bracket-to-frame bolts.

I want to replace my welded-on old step bumper too. Did you have to cut off the old brackets or cut through the welds? Got some under carriage pictures you can share? Thanks!

I cut through the welds on mine after removing the bumper which weighed around 75 lbs. Cutting the welds weakens the attachment point and some persuasion by prying a lil bit gets them outta there.

Look at the brackets, they are welded to the bumper, but on the other end, the brackets bolt to the frame rails.
I have the black ‘diamond’ plated step bumper as well it’s currently not bolted onto the frame because I’m missing the bolts is there any specific mounting location on the frame the bolts should go through and what kind of bolts should I use? Thanks
