get a junk 7.3 and put enough of it's parts (like valve covers and serpentine accessory drive) on a 6.9L so it looks like the 7.3.

If we are throwing out non-Ford options, I can get my hands on a Cadi 472 (7.7L) or 500 (8.2L) if you want an indestructible V8 with high enough nickel content in the heads and block to run unleaded without burning valve seats. Minor porting in a 472 with some carb tweaks will get you into the upper 300 HP range.

And the electrolysis/cavitation was only in the 7.3 IDI and PowerStroke, more so in the IDI.
And your point is what? The IDI is what you were talking about. All I am saying is that the diesel is not without it's own set of fleas.

IMO the biggest impediment to putting a diesel in a Bronco is the extra 600 pounds you are putting on the front of a vehicle with a very short wheelbase.

I like everything Ford, even the IH stuff, but the Triton V8s are wonderful motors that make a bunch of power given their displacement.

My point is that the cavitation problem can be solved by SIMPLY putting the right cooland in it and watching the pH levels.
The mod-motors problem is more complex and difficult to ATEMPT to prevent.
You're right about the extra weight and that is definitely a factor to take into account.

When done right the wieght is no problem lol. Just swap it all out like I did to mine. My Bronco handles better with the 1 ton stuff under it then it ever did as a 1/2 ton with the sway bars. Besides, my fuel mileage is a lot better than it ever was as a gasser.
