2.9 V6 Swap problems
Here is my problem, I have an 1989 Ford Ranger 4x4 that came stock with a 5 speed and also the 2.9L V6. The motor went bad on me so I pulled it and got another motor that came out of an 88 Bronco II with an Automatic trans. My problem is that the wiring harness from the Bronco II motor does not seem to have the same connections as my Ranger does. The motor only has 2 main plugs that go to the fuel injectors and sensors, and the truck that I am dropping this into has 3 main plugs.
The only thing I can think of is that I am missing some type of harness that goes from the extra truck side round shape plug and then into the flat shape plug for the motor distributor? I am thinking this is the case because I can't seem to find the plug that would fit the distributor on this new motor but my old motor had the same type, and shaped plug for the distributor. Does anyone out there know what this extra plug is for. I have two gray colored plugs, and one black plug on the truck side, and one black and one gray on the motor side. The black plugs fit into eachother, but so do the gray ones.
Thanks,
Brad
