I'd like to know what magical material that boot is made of and want to wrap the inside of my entire cab with it. It can't be regular rubber. I've started my truck with the boot just loose and the amount of noise coming through there is amazing.
When you get the part in, please post the part number here for reference. Just in case.
Chris, my daughter will mess with me. She'll lift up on the boot, with her foot. Sometimes, catching me offgaurd, and flipping out..did you hear that?
Package was just delivered a minute ago, and told her, here's your present..., she was NOT HAPPY.
P/N #F81Z*7277*BB...whats throw'n me off, is the screws to bolt it down, there panhead woodscrews, which protrude through the bottom of the assy, only about 1/4in AT MOST?
Alright, just finished installing it, and upon firing truck up, its defintly quieter in side, but i did see ,that theres a gap on both d/s and p/s, under the hold-down plate, which i think its from the foam under carpet being bad. P.O. installed/rebuilt the trans/clutch assy, and think, along with ripping the boot assy up, they also messed up the carpet/foam pad as well, around the shifter assy.
I got soam foam pads, i think i'll install under/around the assy, and re-tighten the ring down, hopefully completing a seal all around. But i'm stoked anyway.
WOW....what a difference. Did a 130 mile commute today, about 100 of it, was freeway. Unbelievable, i had to listen to that crap for a year. With just driving down the street, i noticed the difference, but up in the gears ,motor revving, turbo spooling, it was til then, that that piece held back those noises. Man, it was cool, having the radio at only 12-ish, to listen, able to "talk" and not be somewhat yelling, to hear each other, or just having the window cracked, to "kill" the noise from the shifter assy....yeah Chris, if that, whatever it is, comes in rolls, i'm plastering on the firewall and everywhere else, bud.
