It's camping season again and time to revive this thread!
We are currently staying at Tom Sawyer's RV Park and this place is now on our "must visit again list". Very quiet and clean park right on the Mississippi River which offers nearly non-stop relaxing viewing pleasure of the river traffic. It's on low ground right on the river so it does flood, so check the flood link on the website to verify they are open before planning to visit, they were flooded earlier this Spring but you wouldn't know it looking around the place, no damage and clean!
They have a mix of shaded and open sites, we opted for an open site closer to the water, We are on a full hook up 50 amp site about 100' from the river (second row of sites) and the view can't be beat!
Sites are large overall, easy to back in, didn't see any pull thru sites. Plus in the summer you are right on the river but with the rains it is moving too fast to even think about it.
Minus are no internet unless you provide your own and very spotty cell service.
With the rains last week, we could not get out one morning due to only one access road in/out, another big minus.
We stayed here since the wife was working just down the road this week and it was extremely coinvent at 1am.
Don't think we will stay here again though, but if you are local then I would probably consider another stay.
I tend to stick to USACoE campgrounds and as a vet with a disability rating you can get the Access Pass allowing you to stay at a lot of national and federal campgrounds for a significant discount. Getting a campground for 50% of the normal rate is hard to beat. at any rate one of my favorite campgrounds is Moutardier Campground at Nolin Lake Kentucky. Now the sites will fit larger rigs but the sites backing into them with a 41 foot rig and a full size truck can be a challenge.
