My 7.3 PSD EXC... was doing the same thing. I was told it could be the UVCG ( under valve cover gasket), so I pulled my covers and ohm the gaskets, six read less than 5, two did not read at all! Do y'all think this could be the problem?????? Thanks

it was a easy to pull the VC, i tested the gasket as well just to make sure. doing the quarter trick was nice and easy too.

OK so i had the truck towed to ford, they told me they installed the part but still ran like crap and asked why did i think it was the PCM? i told them i though it was the IDM. So apparently my in-laws bought me a PCM. The Ford dealership did like the quarter trick when they opened up my VC while they were doing a diagnostic on the truck.
So they told me it was the IDM after they installed the PCM.

a new IDM is 998.00, 125 for labor.
they said i could get a used one for around 500ish but i need to know whats the specs i shuold be looking for in a used IDM???

also check all your intercooler connection hoses. If one has a hole or is not on the tubes well then the intercooler is not working and the Turbo will not build pressure and it will seem really gutless. Lots of times the lower hose has come off and is just up against it. Then you will idle fine but have no power and the Turbo will not react at all. Try that and check em all. Just simple trouble shooting that might save ya a bunch of work.
