At idle ill give it some fuel and i dont hear the turbo kick in, negitave on a boost gauge. is there any way to check it? wasgate or something?
Its a rough idle with check enging light on. Getting OBD II reader tomorrow to check it out.
Side note some one cut the altenator wires off. Now there is a 4th wire on the alt plug, but only 3 on the truck which has been cut, (Dam tweekers)

Reason: Title change
The rough Idle and SES light is not likely to be the turbo, at idle you really wont hear too much from a stock turbo on a stock truck. Boost really happens when the engine is under a load, as the turbo is driven by the exhaust and is able to build pressure going into the intake.
Pull the intake off of the turbo inspect the compressor wheel, grab the shaft try to move in and out, you don't want any in and out play.
side to side is ok you do not want it to touch the housing, check out this pdf, Turbo Guide
Just as a FYI most typical OBDII code readers will not pull powerstroke specific codes.
ok put on the superchips OBD II reader it came up with
1:PO562~System voltage low, the batteries were almost dead, So i jumped it.
2:P1280~ICP Circ out of range Low
3:P1690~wastegate ctrl valve error
4:PO381~glow plug indicator circ error
5:PO231~Fuel pump relay DVR Circ fail on
6:PO603~Internal Ctrl mod KAM Error
7:PO1316~Injector Cir / IDM codes detected
8:P1139~Water in fuel indicator Circ error
I erased the codes, started the truck and reran the test, The only one that came back up was #7.
I'm not familiar with that scanner personally, but I would think that would be the correct procedure that you did. You would only start it while performing A KOER(Key On Engine Running) Test.
Would any of the KOER test rule out any of the errors i have listed, Also i erased them and only one poped back up, so are the others old codes and the one that stays the only one i need to worry about?
The ones that you erased likely were caused by the low voltage issue, if you were cranking for extended times, some of those errors would have shown up.
its a friends testor, some how with it you can test, change the setting on the computer to Tow, proformance and some other crap. it was a free test so i figured why not.
For instance I have a SnapOn solas, it will retrieve IDM codes with a KOEO test, but some diagnostic tools may retrieve them just simply from checking for codes. If I just retrieve codes, and I get a P1316, then I run a KOEO test and can view the codes.
