I've owned the truck for a year and I'm experiencing some pretty disturbing downshifts in Tow Haul and some pretty hard upshifts in either mode. Need to take it in while it is still under the 5yr powertrain warranty. Had it in a while back and they did nothing.
Are there any recent TSBs or anything else I can tell them to perhaps do a reflash (for free)?
I was recently told that a reflash is coverd for 8 years/80k. I have yet to find if thats true as I have to bring my '08 in for what I hope is a software problem...cruise controll issue...when on the highway doing about 65 mph if using the cruise to slow a bit once releasing the coast button the trans kicks REALLY hard, the trans is rock solid otherwise.
"Check tranny shifting. Road test and worked OK. Install IDS, checked codes - none. Checked Oasis and found no concerns. Reset kam & performed drive cycle. SSM 20937 explains engagement concerns"
What the heck is SSM 20937?
And all of this for $45.
If this doesn't fix it, I'll continue to take it in even if it's once a week.
Special Service Message. Not quite a TSB but it will usually address a common concern. I have the same issue with my 2006 F-350 sometimes, harsh upshifts in either mode and occassionally no line pressure in reverse. I'm thinking it's the Electronic Pressure Control Solenoid.
I received a letter from Ford telling me that there was a new update to the TCM that needs to be donw to my truck. I'd have to find it and list what it says.

Thanks John. Nice to know what it says. Might be specific to PSD.
