tow/haul

If i switch on to the tow haul button periodically durring driveing(mostly decelerating) with this screw up my tranny

Open your glove box and pull out this little soft black case that is about 5"x9". Unzip it and pull out this thing called an "owner's manual". Read it.

I found your question legitimate whereas the OM does not talk about proper/improper operation. Just a bit of how to. I have questions as to it proper performance too. When I started driving my 06 I would shift into tow haul as I started up grades to keep it from a complete downshift. Seems like if I left it in normal mode with cruise on the trans downshifts and the dang thing surges 5 to 10 mph past the cruise setting when cresting the hill. Going to tow haul seemed to counter that. But the last few times I have driven it., it does not go into tow haul mode unless the trans does downshift and then after the pull goes back to normal it will stay in tow haul. It was shifting into tow haul as soon as I hit the button. Anyone else?

You can shift in and out of tow/haul at any time, and any conditions. The computer is smart enough to make sure that you can't hurt the trans by doing this.
