I bought my latest truck, a low mileage 2007 F350 Lariat crewcab shortbox with the 6.0 Diesel just two weeks ago. Just after I got it I unplugged the EGR valve. My mileage improved slightly but I noticed the truck a little harder to start when cold. It cranked over a lot more and the check engine light came on. I used my code reader to turn it off but it came right back on. I had a used EGR valve from when I did a complete Delete on my 03 so I decided to try something. I plugged the harness into the 03 valve and wrapped it in plastic to keep it clean. I then turned off the engine light. I started my truck and went for a drive. The truck started immediately like when I first bought it and ran great. Not that it didn't before. Also the check engine light didn't come on again. I went for a long drive and then checked for codes. No codes either. Don't know if this will work for everyone but I think I fooled the computer into thinking the EGR valve was hooked up. I will update you after I get a few kilometers on this. But so far so good.
This was something that was discussed on the boards way back in like 2005 or so, using a dummy egr valve to hook up. I don't remember what the result was. I remember looking for an old egr valve to do this with but they wanted an arm and leg for the core. Don't remember if there were any negative consequences of others who had talked about doing this. Maybe do a search in the archives to see if there were any. I know it was at least talked about before.
I remember that as well but like you I don`t know anyone who has done it or what the result was. I was lucky enough to have one on hand but I guess you could always get one from an Auto wrecker. I`ll keep monitoring it and let you know how it performs. I just had the plug in my 03 for over a year and a half with no issues at all. And just recently did a full delete.
The SCT Tuner offers the option to turn off EGR function. Might be the best way to go... I did do some searching and found a few discussions from back in the day. Here is one of them that I found. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/3...egr-valve.html
There are more too but I think that now a days there are more alternatives to use, rather than using the dummy valve. I vote for leaving it plugged in and using an SCT.

I agree that is certainly one way to go but unfortunately it is not cheap either. I would love to go that way but I can't really afford one right now. A good cheap alternative might be a used EGR valve. I'm still under warranty and if I need service it's easy just to plug the original back in.
