As of right now i know where 2 crew cab short bed 4x4's are both are for sale also both are under 2 grand 1 is in great shape no rust for 1500 the other have not seen yet but is only 1000.
I'll give you a high five and a firm handshake if you release some info and whereabouts on these trucks!
A kid I went to school with had a 78 or 79, 1/2 ton 4wd, supercab. Not hard to remember because it was painted like a cow. He junked the box due to rot and rust and installed a flat bed because he couldn't find a solid short bed for it. I see him around sometimes, maybe I'll ask him for a picture.
Please do. I'd love to see a picture of a factory supercab shortbed. All my literature from Ford shows it was never produced.
Now for the story...
I call the owner Friday night to get some pics of his 78' (i said 79' b4 oops) and ask why it was only $850? He says its rusty and old. Said it has a gas guzzling 460 and his gf refuses to drive it. So I offer $500 sure he will say no but he says yes! So now I come on here and start this thread.
I wait impatiently till Sunday when he's to come home from out of town, I'm sure in my mind that this is a wreck and will need extensive repairs to make roadworthy much less the vision in my head. Since it was our anniversary I proposed we go to the city and have lunch at a nice place and possibly tow this thing home. So tow bar ready we head to Kc have a nice lunch at Olive Garden and I make several calls to the owner to get directions. He never answers back. After killing about 4 hours we decide he's changed his mind and it wasn't meant to be. About 1/2 way home he calls. "Sorry my ph died and I forgot to turn it back on after charging" so we turn around.
As we pull up to his home I see the owner leaning over the front with the hood up. Not a biggy cuz just from the stroll up I've made up my mind that running or not its coming with us, it had 5 new tires! That's the purchase price alone! He says hello and returns to the garage with his jumpers and I notice the battery J-hooks laying on the ground along with the air cleaner and rusty filter. I decide to take a peak and the dead soldier and lean over the HOT radiator! I yell "HOCKEYDARNPOOPFIRE!!!" just as he's warning me that the engine is nice and warmed up.
After calmly pacing the truck where I'm barely able to contain my excitement and whip out the 5 brothers b4 someone calls and offers the asking price he says let's go for a ride. Now remember I'm sold on the idea that this old better is just bandaided and hanger-wired together. As we jump in I finally notice the subaru boxer engines in the bed. Up till now I thought he worked at jiffy lube. So I ask about them and turns out he's a certified foreign auto tech fluent in all foreign and domestic brands. I turn the key and 8 healthy 4.36" bores jump to life in unison. I ask about the 46k on the odometer weather its 100 or 200 and he says its original. Now I'm about to cry! As the truck purrs up and down the city streets neatly shifting into all 3 gears the way a tranny is sposed to he's telling me all the things he's done in the 5 years and 2500 miles he's owned it. And its pretty obvious since it runs better than any of mine. Of course I'm not really hearing any of it because my mind has gone to that place where images of 1st love, child birth and extraordinary things are stored. We stop at a station to get some gas as its on E, he says he's going in to prepay and I ask why handing him $600 and telling him to use the extra Ben to turn on the pump.
So I'm driving this dream home, manila folder full of parts store warrenties beside me with visions of 35's a 6" inch lift, a D44 and t-case as my 1st mods... and the worlds largest perma-grin tattooed across my face. Nobody wake me... for this dream should never end!
I'm going to pick-up my bday present tomorrow, 79' F150 ranger SWBSC (Short wheelbase supercab) I've only ever seen maybe 5 and all have been 2wd... as is this 1. All the ones I could aproach have also been 460/c6. Never seen 1 of these 4wd. I'm thinking of making 1 out of this 1. Did ford ever do this?????
Rusty and old he says.... wish mine was in that good of shape, and i picked the parts to build it. Haha what an awesome story, lol still has me grinning. Before reading this post i would have sworn that ford never made a sc,sb. Really nice truck btw. Full seat in the back or jumpers?
Only 4 dr i have ever seen was a 78 or 79 F250 short box 4x4 460 4sp full time 4wd. Dont quote me, but im pretty sure it had base model trim w/ac. Would be a great parts truck if the guy would let go of it, outside is tore up something bad, but the inside is pristine minus having the drivers side of the bench redone.
Full fold down bench and good cloth/vinyl in front. Prolly get seats out of my 96' they're 60/40 w/console. The ECSB is rare but I've seen a few, all 460's for some reason. And come to think of it all had factory overload springs like mine. Must be a farm/ranch/work option.
I gotta think the rarest has to be some combo of the crew cab. I want to say crew cab long bed. I have only seen this combo one time. I cannot say if it was factory or not.
I don’t think those are very rare but I’m not totally sure as I’ve only seen one which belongs to my dad. 1977 f-350 crew-cab Ranger. If this is rare let me know If this truck may be rare, let me know.
