i just bought a 79 F-350 crew cab with an 8ft bed the truck is from north carolina and isa 1 owner truck. there is no rust on the truck. i got it for $600 because the motor is blown. the bad part is its 2wd i want to know if its possible to swap in a 4wd front end. i have all the parts to either do a 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton swap all i need to know is how. or if anyone knows of a 4wd chassis in the north central west virginia area i would be interested thanks ahead for any information
personally i'd just go buy a nice running 4wd truck which you can find for not to much and if you want the restore value there are hundreds of 4wd trucks that need restore
making 2wd to 4wd is hard well depends, but it takes a lot and depending is relativley of what you use, I have a 2wd truck and i wanted to make it 4wd but its not worth it at all
i have several 4wds as of now but i really like the crew cab as its the only one ive seen in W.V. i have a 79 supercab frame the crew cab will bolt up but using aa 6ft bed which i despise completely. i am a fabricator by trade and have access to most tools i am goin to tactle this project over im guessing the next few years ill keep everyone here posted on wat happens its worth a shot
oh ic ic
welll i know the 4wd frame is much narrower not much but ugh like 4 inches? I'd take a 4wd truck side by side and just make it all work by looking at each thing and working it out, getting parts yea
yea that is it
well i think LMCtruck.com
i think they sell every part you need new, i think they even sell a complete dana 44 or dana 60 front end? and then the transfer and the driveshaft and other things? you might be able to get it at a good nice price and do it relativley quick

I was looking at doing this when I got my current 79 F100 2WD LWB and putting the running gear from my old 78 F100 SWB 4WD but the cross members are in different spots as well as the steering box and column being different so I just gave up on the idea as I hardly needed 4WD anyway
