I rebuilt my original trans from my 73 CS. Not because it needed it but I needed to swap tailshafts and housings to make it work in my 79 4x4 with 390. I was installing the transfer case and noticed I could not rotate the output shaft at all.
Took it apart and thought I had it (parking pawl in backwards). Reassembled and all is good until I torque the pump to specs. The shaft only turns counterclockwise when bolts are loosened.
I used a bit of grease to hold the spacers with tabs in place so I don't think one fell out and I triple checked.
Very confident that all discs are in correctly. I also used the parts from the same tranny, did not mix and match.
