heaters

I pulled these heaters out of the 48 and 49.
The one from the 48 (blue) I think was not original to the truck as it was in the center of the firewall.
The silver one came from the 49, and all seemed legit.

Are there any advantages with either? and where can I find a missing door?
Thanks

The silver one seems to be fairly common . I've seen a lot of this style. Not sure about the blue one.
As far as a door ? The big Barrie swapmeet is coming up. If you can't find it there then you're outta luck.

Those appear to be standard Ford heaters for cars. They were installed by dealers as an accessory into trucks.

A lot of the silver ones have been put into the Canadian trucks. Probably the least expensive. Certainly cheaper than the deluxe fresh air model. All that the guy wanted was something to keep him from freezing his but off.
Did you get my message Ilya ?

I remember a cabin in the woods as a kid that had cabinets with doors that looked that that. If memory serves, they were a tad bit larger tho.

From previous threads long ago the problem was mostly with finding a motor for the fan, especially when upgrading system to 12VDC. Maybe see which one is repairable. chuck

The silver one seems to be in better shape, and I bet the fan will work.
I will probably just hold on to the blue one for parts?.....

Hey Greg, do you plan to go to Barrie? I think I'm going to go on the Sat.

I have the blue one in my 51. People tell me that it is not stock, but it works. The blue one is missing the bottom flap/door through. (Mine has 3 doors.)

It seems as though a replacement door could be made out of a piece of sheetmetal and a wooden buck as a form.
